Giving Thanks, Giving Help
Issue Number 008
November 22, 2016

For Thanksgiving I normally write about being thankful for everything you have in life, and for helping others in need. This year I want to thank everyone who has been there with me over the years, personally and professionally.

This holiday season my family and I will be in Utah, spending time with our daughter who earlier this year was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), which comes from being relinquished at the time of birth. This is a common issue for adoptive children like her.

After she spent the summer in Wisconsin in a wilderness program, she moved to small residential therapeutic horse ranch in Utah--the size of a little house on the prairie. She is working on herself with the goal of transitioning back home.

This journey has made us more sensitive to the lives of others--every person has a story--and as a family it has made us stronger.

A story of helping others: Working along side my father for many years, the most memorable lesson I learned was his constant call to help others in their time of need. He would say that this is the best time to have an impact by reaching out a helping hand. I saw him do this repeatedly at work, where he would ask people to put down their tools and lend support to an employee in deep personal need.

When things are going well, it is easy to be kind. When times are more difficult, your company’s character is tested.

We really have much to be grateful for. My family and I want to thank you for your guidance, comfort, love and loyalty. Have a wonderful holiday season!

Regards, Jeffrey Scott
